Singapore Business Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Singapore business visa is issued for limited business activities.
  • These activities include conferences, meetings, seminars, and even discussions.
  • A printout of the registered Singapore company’s business profile is required. It should show the details of the trip and the names of all the directors/shareholders in the company.
  • The printout should be issued within the last three months to the date of your visa application.
  • Singapore is considered as the 9th best country to do business in the world.
  • An invitation letter from your business partner in Singapore should be submitted along with a photocopy of the company’s certificate of incorporation.
  • Self-employed applicants are to submit a copy of their company’s tax clearance certificate.
  • If there are previous business dealings between you and the Singapore company, evidence should be provided.
  • If the host will be responsible for your accommodation, he must provide proof.
  • All the documents are to be translated into English. If not possible, then official translations of the documents should also be attached.
  • Non-compliance with the immigration regulations, the false declaration of information or submission of forged documents during the application process will be an offense under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.  Penalties may include a fine and/or imprisonment for the applicant and/or company.
  • Short stay visas require a duly completed and signed 14A form. Visa application will be made based on the information in the form. ICA (Immigration and Checkpoints authority) may request the form to be submitted.
  • A completed form V394 (letter of introduction for visa application LOI) issued by a local contact in Singapore is also required for a Singapore business visa.
  • The local contact must be acting on behalf of the Singapore registered business entity.
  •  LOIs issued by embassies are also accepted
  • Singapore immigration and checkpoints authority takes a stern stand on attempts to overstay, enter or exit Singapore illegally.
  • Penalties for overstaying your visa or entering illegally are jail term for 6 months plus a minimum of three strokes of the cane while penalties for illegal leaving is not less than 6 months jail term and not more than 2 years. A fine of about $6,000 will also have to be paid.

Singapore Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • Singapore tourist visa is a short term visa.
  • It is issued to individuals who want to travel for holiday, sight-seeing, festivals or visitations.
  • An individual who wants to receive medical treatment in Singapore can apply for this visa.
  • Applicants are required to provide two recent(not older than 3 months) passport-size photographs that should be placed along with the visa form. The photograph must have a white background and the color of your shirt should be in contrast to the background. 
  • One photograph is to be signed and pasted on the Singapore tourist visa form. The second should be attached with a gem clip along with the form.
  • This visa can be issued for multiple entries which allows several entrances into Singapore with one visa.
  • Applicants can apply for a Singapore visa online or an embassy. If you are applying to an embassy, you have to go there physically.
  • A caution deposit of between S$1,000 and S$3,000 should be made upon the approval of your visa application. This will cover your stay in Singapore.
  • If at the end of your stay, it established that you haven’t breached any of the conditions stated in the security bond that is executed by the Singaporean local contact you are visiting or by you, the visa applicant and it is by the Singaporean immigration authorities that you are legally departing, you will be refunded the money.
  • Employed applicants should submit a letter of introduction from the current employer, it should state the destination and that the applicant is on an approved leave.
  • All documents must be printed in official letter-headed papers.
  • A covering letter should be written by the applicant mentioning the reason of travel and dates of travel, addressed to ‘The Embassy of Singapore /The Consulate General of Singapore’.
  • For documents not in English, the original copy must be submitted along with an official English translation by a certified translator, High Commission/Embassy or notary public.
  • Singapore tourist visa is valid for a period of 2 years but each visit must not exceed 90 days.
  • Visitors who are in Singapore as a tourist for social purposes or seeking medical treatment, and require a longer period of stay beyond the Visit Pass granted on entry into Singapore, may submit an application for extension of stay (not more than 89 days from date of entry).
  • Applicants are not allowed to return to Singapore within five days from the departure date of the current trip.
  • If you want an extension of up to 89 days from the date of entry into Singapore, you will require a local sponsor.
  • Overstaying your visa or attempting to enter and exit Singapore illegally is a serious offense.
