Burkina Faso Tourist Visa Eligibility & Requirements

  • The Burkina Faso tourist visa is issued to Indians traveling to Burkina Faso for tourism purposes.
  • The tourist visa is valid for 90 days.
  • If you wish to extend your visa, you must contact the head office of the national police in Ouagadougou.
  • Applicants are required to provide proof of yellow fever vaccination.
  • It is advisable to travel in convoys when outside of major urban areas to deter roadside crime.
  • Exercise caution when traveling along the northern areas of the country near the Mali and Niger borders. 
  • If traveling with prescription medication, check with the government of Burkina Faso to ensure the medication is legal in Burkina Faso. Always, carry your prescription medication in original packaging with your doctor’s prescription.
  • You can get hepatitis A and typhoid through contaminated food or water in Burkina Faso, make sure to stay up-to-date on vaccinations.

  • The Burkina Faso business visa is issued to Indians traveling to the country for business purposes.
  • This visa is valid for 90 days.
  • A letter from the applicant’s employer in India is required. The letter should be addressed to the Embassy of Burkina Faso.
  • The letter should introduce the applicant and state the nature of the business to be conducted. If the applicant is meeting more than one company, the names and addresses of the companies should be stated.
  • The letter should also state the following:
    • Purpose of the trip.
    • Activities to be performed during the trip.
    • Source of financial responsibility or expenses to be covered by the applicant's company or host company.
    • Duration of stay.
  • An official letter of invitation from the host company in India should be provided. The letter should be written on the company’s letterhead and signed by an authorized signatory of the company.
  • The letter should state the duration and nature of the business to be carried out. The valid contact address of the company should be included in the letter.
  • Proof of any previous dealings between the sponsoring and the host company should be provided, if any.
